Once upon a time, in a bustling anthill, there was an ant named Ted. Ted was different from all the other ants in the anthill, as he was lazy and would much rather nap than work. His colonymates would often have to carry him to his assigned tasks, and he would frequently find ways to sneak off for a nap.
As the summer months approached, the anthill's food stores needed to be replenished for the upcoming winter. All the ants were hard at work gathering food, except for Ted. He would much rather nap in the sun than work, and his colonymates were fed up with his laziness.
Finally, the queen ant had enough of Ted's laziness and called for a meeting of the colony. She warned that unless Ted started pulling his own weight, he would be kicked out of the anthill. Ted knew he had to change his ways, but it was hard for him to shake off his lazy habits.
As the days passed, Ted tried his best to help gather food but he was always trailing behind the other ants, and his efforts were half-hearted at best. One day, while Ted was taking yet another nap, a group of hungry birds spotted the anthill. The other ants tried to fend off the birds, but they were too many.
In a moment of bravery, Ted woke up from his nap and rallied the other ants. Using his knowledge of the anthill's layout, Ted was able to lead the birds away and save the colony's food stores. The queen ant and colonymates were amazed at Ted's bravery and realized that sometimes, even the laziest ant can rise to the occasion when it really matters.
Ted learned that hard work and determination can accomplish great things, and from that day forward, he became an exemplary member of the colony. He may have been lazy, but he had a heart of gold.
